Gold Standard 100% CaseinOptimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Casein, Chocolate Supreme, 1.8 kg (3.97 lb)

Slow-digesting casein for evening shakes

Gold Standard 100% Casein takes all of its protein from micellar casein, which the brand describes as slow digesting compared with whey. A 34 g scoop provides 24 g of protein and 9 g of essential amino acids with 1 g of sugar. Many people mix it before bed or use it between meals as part of a high-protein diet.

Flavour, mixing and quality notes

This is the Chocolate Supreme flavour, which is artificially flavoured, and it is designed to mix well with water, milk or another cold drink. Optimum Nutrition says the product is regularly tested for banned substances under the Informed Choice programme. The 1.8 kg (3.97 lb) tub holds 53 servings, with the brand's scoop included.

How to use

Mix 1 scoop (34 g) with 10-12 fl oz (about 300-350 ml) of cold water, milk or another drink, and stir, shake or blend for 30 seconds. Use 8-10 fl oz (about 240-300 ml) for a thicker shake and 12-14 fl oz (about 350-415 ml) for a thinner one. Protein needs should be met through a balanced diet and exercise routine.
