Squigle developed Enamel Saver for people who experience discomfort or irritation when they use conventional toothpaste. It leaves out cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) as well as the more familiar foaming agents, and keeps the foam deliberately mild. It is made in the USA.

Fluoride and a high xylitol content

The paste contains 0.24% sodium fluoride, which helps protect against cavities and supports tooth enamel as part of regular brushing. Squigle also uses far more xylitol than an ordinary toothpaste, which the manufacturer says is aimed at limiting the spread of plaque.

A fuller brushing routine

Squigle's directions go beyond the teeth themselves, with flossing first and brushing of the tongue, roof of the mouth and cheeks afterwards. If you want a toothpaste that fits a thorough, several-times-a-day routine, this is designed with that in mind.

How to use

Floss every day before brushing. Squeeze a full brush length of paste onto a soft-bristled, small-headed manual or electric toothbrush and brush for 2 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day after eating. Rinse, then brush the tongue, the roof of the mouth and the inside of the cheeks, and rinse again.

Before you choose

This is a fluoride toothpaste, so it is not the right choice if you want a fluoride-free paste. Keep it out of reach of children under 6 years and do not swallow it. If more than a brush length is swallowed, contact a doctor or poison control centre straight away. US-market product: packaging and label wording may differ from UK versions.
