A wrap-on fix for damaged exhaust parts
ExhaustWeld is fibreglass tape pre-impregnated with resin, made to be wrapped round a damaged section of exhaust and left to cure. It can be used on manifolds, catalytic converters, silencers, tailpipes and other parts of the exhaust system. It suits home mechanics who want to deal with a leak or hole without welding.
Curing and heat resistance
With heat from a heat gun or a running engine, the wrap cures in about 20 minutes, and it takes longer without heat. Once fully cured, the maker states it is heat resistant to 1100°F.
What comes in the pack
You receive one white wrap measuring 2 x 72 inches, a pair of gloves and a securing bandage. The pack weighs about 4.2 ounces.
How to use
With the exhaust cool, put on the gloves supplied and wrap the material round the damaged area, then secure it with the bandage. Allow it to cure, using a heat gun or a running engine to speed this up. Follow the product instructions throughout.
Before you choose
Always follow the product instructions, wear the gloves supplied and start work only when the exhaust is cool. US-market product: packaging and label wording may differ from UK versions.
