This rinse brings together two Procter & Gamble names: Crest for the clean feel and Scope for the fresh-breath flavour. It is a cosmetic mouthwash used after brushing, swished round the mouth and then spat out.

The manufacturer states that this rinse keeps breath feeling fresh up to five times longer than brushing alone, and that it kills 99% of bad breath germs in laboratory tests. The Long Lasting Mint flavour is behind the Outlast name, and it suits people who want their breath to stay fresh through meetings or a night out.

The 33.8 fl oz bottle holds 1 litre, a sensible size for regular use. The formula contains alcohol at 12.4% by weight, along with menthol and peppermint leaf oil, which is worth knowing if you prefer an alcohol-free rinse.

How to use

Pour the amount shown on the cap, rinse it around the mouth for the time given on the label, then spit it out. Do not swallow.

This is a breath-freshening rinse to use alongside brushing, not in place of it. It contains alcohol, so it is not suitable if you need an alcohol-free mouthwash.
