This Proven Industries lock is designed to help secure trailers, RVs and outdoor equipment when they are left unhitched. The manufacturer notes it can also be used to secure safety chains.

Tough parts and a protected key

The locking parts are hardened steel, and the exterior shield is described by the maker as tough enough to stop attack with power tools, hammers and crowbars. The disc-detainer lock uses a special key design said to resist picking, with an interior mechanism intended to stop keys being copied. The lock is listed as weather resistant.

Fit, size and finish

Model 2516 is custom-made to mount only on specific 2 5/16 inch couplers. It comes as an inner slide, an exterior shield and a puck lock, measures around 19.1 x 14.3 x 17.8 cm assembled, and is listed in a blue-square finish. Proven Industries designs and makes its locks in the USA.

How to use

Attach the inner slide to your coupler and engage the latch. Place the exterior shield over the coupler so the two slide tabs line up, then place the puck lock over the tabs.
