Whole fruiting body maitake

Grifron Maitake uses powder made from the whole fruiting body of Grifola frondosa, the maitake mushroom, which Mushroom Wisdom notes was highly prized in medieval Japan. Each four-caplet serving provides 2,000 mg of the powder plus 80 mg of vitamin C as ascorbic acid. The caplets are suitable for vegetarians and are made in a certified cGMP facility, according to the manufacturer.

Flexible daily amount

The label suggests three to four caplets a day, with the full serving being four, so the 120-caplet bottle provides 30 servings at the higher amount. The compact bottle measures about 11 x 5.7 x 5.6 cm.

What is and is not in the caplets

Besides the maitake and vitamin C, the caplets contain standard tableting ingredients such as cellulose, dicalcium phosphate and magnesium stearate. The label states there is no gluten, wheat, soy, dairy, or artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
