Eye care: your questions answered

Do I need a separate eye cream?
The skin around the eyes is thinner than elsewhere on the face, so eye creams are formulated to be gentle and are usually tested around the eye area. If your regular moisturiser feels comfortable there, it may be all you need. Many people prefer a dedicated eye cream for its texture, or for ingredients like caffeine, peptides or hyaluronic acid that refresh the look of the eye area.
How do I apply eye cream?
Use a rice-grain amount for both eyes. Dot it along the orbital bone, the bony ridge around the eye, and tap gently with your ring finger, which naturally applies the least pressure. Avoid going too close to the lash line, as products can travel into the eyes. Apply eye cream after serum and before moisturiser, and give it a minute to absorb before concealer.
Eye cream, eye serum or eye gel: which should I choose?
Eye gels feel light and cooling and work well in the morning under makeup. Eye serums are fluid and layer easily under other products. Eye creams, such as those from CeraVe, Eucerin and COSRX, are richer and suit dry skin or an evening routine. Some people use a gel in the morning and a cream at night. Choose fragrance-free if your eyes are sensitive to scented products.
