Fixings for hollow plasterboard without a pilot hole

TOGGLER TB anchors drill straight into plasterboard, so there is no need to pre-drill a pilot hole. As the screw is driven in, jaws on the anchor expand behind the board to grip it, giving a secure fixing for shelves, decor and light fixtures. They suit 3/8 to 5/8 inch plasterboard in walls or ceilings.

Glass-filled nylon with expanding jaws

The body is made from glass-filled nylon with a plain finish and an outside diameter of 0.31 inch, about 8 mm. They take #6 to #10 fasteners, and the manufacturer quotes up to 79 lb ultimate tensile strength in 1/2 inch plasterboard with a #8 x 1-1/2 inch screw. They are made in the USA.

How to use

Press the anchor's tip against the plasterboard and drive it in with a screwdriver until it sits flush. Then fit your shelf or fixture over it and drive the screw in so the jaws open behind the board.

Before you choose

These are rated for light to medium duty, so use a heavier-duty fixing for loads beyond that. Sizes are given in US inch and fastener gauges. US-market product: packaging and label wording may differ from UK versions.
