NAC Pure Powder NOW Foods NAC Pure Powder, 113 g (4 oz)

A single-ingredient amino acid powder

NAC, or N-acetyl cysteine, is a stable form of the amino acid cysteine, and this powder contains nothing else. It is labelled non-GMO, with the amino acid sold by weight rather than volume. NOW Foods describes itself as family owned since 1968.

Taste and mixing

The manufacturer notes the powder has a strong taste and recommends mixing it into an acidic juice such as orange or cranberry. Light speckling or colour change can occur on exposure to air and does not affect quality, according to the label.

How to use

Take a quarter of a level teaspoon one to three times daily, mixed into an acidic juice such as orange or cranberry.
