A berry syrup built on black elderberry extract

The syrup is made with black elderberry extract from European black elderberries (Sambucus nigra L.), which the manufacturer says are handpicked, inspected and frozen on the day they are picked. A proprietary blend of echinacea and propolis is added, and the label states that no artificial colours are used.

Ingredients and label notes

Besides the active ingredients, the syrup contains fructose, purified water, glycerin, natural flavour and the preservatives malic acid and potassium sorbate. The label lists it as gluten free, vegetarian and gelatin free, with no peanut or dairy. A dosage cup is included in the pack.

How to use

Shake well before each use. Daily maintenance: children aged 2 to 6 years take 1 teaspoon (5 ml) daily, and children aged 7 and over take 2 teaspoons (10 ml) daily. For intensive use, children aged 2 to 6 take 1 teaspoon (5 ml) three times daily, and children aged 7 and over take 2 teaspoons (10 ml) three times daily.

Before you choose

The label states that it is not recommended for individuals with auto-immune conditions. People with allergies to plants of the Asteraceae (Compositae) family, including ragweed, should use it with caution. It is safety sealed with an inner seal, so do not use it if the seal is broken or missing. Keep tightly closed, store at room temperature and avoid excessive heat and direct sunlight.
