236877 Dryer Door Latch Kit (Catch and Strike)Kenmore 236877 Dryer Door Latch Kit (Catch and Strike)

Replacing a worn dryer door catch

When a tumble dryer door no longer stays shut, a tired catch or strike is often the part at fault. This kit supplies both pieces together, so the latch can be renewed as a matched pair rather than mixing old and new parts.

A factory part across several brands

The kit is listed as an original Whirlpool, Kenmore and Maytag factory part and is described as fitting many dryer brands. Part number 236877 is interchangeable with Whirlpool part 279570, which helps if your manual or old part shows the other number.

What comes in the pack

You receive one door latch kit made up of the catch and the strike. It is a straightforward replacement part rather than a full door assembly.

Before you choose

Check the part number against your dryer's model details before ordering, as fit depends on the machine. Disconnect the appliance from the mains before fitting. If you are unsure about working on appliances, use a qualified engineer. US-market product: packaging and label wording may differ from UK versions.
