Nutritional yeast flakes are used as a food ingredient, and these have a nutty, roasted flavour. They dissolve easily, so they can be stirred into stews, casseroles, soups, gravies, protein drinks, juices and milkshakes, or sprinkled over salads, yogurt, cottage cheese and peanut butter.

How this yeast is grown

KAL states that its yeast is primary grown on molasses rather than produced through the brewing process, which it says avoids the bitter aftertaste of traditional brewer's yeast. The flakes are unsweetened and fortified with B vitamins.
