Dried, dark purple organic elderberries from Bulgaria, used for tea or in culinary dishes, with a fruity aroma.

Product details

Whole berries for tea and cooking

The label describes bulk organic dried elderberries that are commonly used as a tea or as an ingredient in culinary dishes. Their flavour develops most when they are mixed into foods or drinks, and they give off a fruity aroma.

Ways to use them in the kitchen

They are used in sweet syrups, desserts, jams and jellies, and Frontier suggests pairing them with other fruits, teas and warming winter cordials. The berries are USDA Organic, certified organic by QAI, kosher and non-irradiated, and Frontier Co-op has been member owned since 1976.

How to use

To make a tea, pour 8 fl oz (about 240 ml) of boiling water over 1 teaspoon of the berries. Cover and steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain and serve immediately.

Before you choose

Follow the preparation directions. Consumption of elderberry may cause digestive discomfort. Consult your healthcare practitioner before use. US-market product: packaging and label wording may differ from UK versions. Food supplement. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Not a substitute for a varied diet. Keep out of reach of children. Consult a doctor before use if pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or under medical supervision.
