Serrapeptase is a protein-digesting enzyme isolated from the bacterium Serratia E-15, which was discovered in the Japanese silkworm. Doctor's Best notes that it has been used as a nutritional supplement in Europe and Asia for decades.

Delayed-release capsule

This formula is built with Serrateric, which Doctor's Best describes as an alternative to enteric coating that protects the enzyme until it reaches the intestine. The capsule is a delayed-release vegetarian capsule made from hypromellose and gellan gum, and the product is non-GMO and vegan.

Serving and bottle size

The label serving is one capsule a day, so the 270-capsule bottle is a long supply. First-time users are advised that they may do better starting on the lower 40,000 SPU serrapeptase product.

How to use

For adults, take 1 capsule daily with at least 8 oz (about 240 ml) of water on an empty stomach, or as recommended by a nutritionally informed physician.
