Advanced Clinicals designed this retinol cream for both face and body, including the neck, arms, hands, thighs and legs. The texture is ultra-rich and velvety, closer to a body butter, yet it absorbs easily. Chamomile extract is also included alongside the main ingredients.

How the formula is built

Retinol is the focus, aimed at the look of fine lines and crepey skin. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, green tea extract helps refresh dull-looking skin, and aloe vera with chamomile help hydrate. There is no added fragrance.

What smoothing means here

Retinol works gradually, so changes in how skin looks build over time with regular use. The brand recommends night-time use, and starting slowly makes it easier to see how your skin responds.

How to use

Apply a sufficient amount to cleansed skin and massage in gently with upward circular movements until absorbed. Use morning or night, once or twice daily or whenever skin feels dry, and wear broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen outdoors. If retinol is new to you, patch test a small area first and build up gradually to twice daily as tolerated. If irritation occurs, use it less often; if it persists, stop.

Before you choose

Contains retinol: avoid during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises otherwise, and do not use it at the same time as benzoyl peroxide or vitamin C products. For external use only. Avoid the eyes, rinsing thoroughly with water if contact occurs, and stop using it if irritation develops. Keep out of reach of children.
