Neutrogena T/Sal uses salicylic acid to help loosen dead skin that collects on the scalp. This makes it a useful cleansing step when visible build-up and flakes are the main concern. The original T/Sal formula is fragrance-free and distinct from coal-tar shampoos, with pack-specific use instructions below.

T/Sal’s salicylic-acid formula helps loosen scalp build-up and control the symptoms of dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis. It is a scalp treatment shampoo, so work the lather into the scalp rather than just along the hair.

Choosing this formula

This is the original Therapeutic Scalp Build-Up Control formula. Its published ingredient list contains no added fragrance. It is different from T/Sal Plus and from coal-tar shampoos.

How to use

1. Thoroughly wet your hair.
2. Massage a generous amount into the scalp and leave the lather for several minutes.
3. Rinse and repeat.

Use at least twice weekly.

Before use

For external use only. Avoid the eyes; rinse thoroughly if contact occurs. Stop if symptoms worsen or do not improve with regular use. Keep away from children. Store at room temperature.

Full ingredients

Active: Salicylic acid 3%.

Inactive: Water, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Polyquaternium-22, Sodium Citrate, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Linoleamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid.
