Exfoliate, then treat

This Medix 5.5 set pairs the Glycolic + Lactic Acid Skin Perfecting body wash with the Retinol + Ferulic Acid Age Rewind body cream, each in a large 444 ml (15 fl oz) pump bottle. The wash gently exfoliates away oil, dirt and dry, dull surface build-up so skin is ready for treatment; the cream then helps visibly smooth the look of crepey skin, fine lines and rough texture.

Texture and feel

The wash is a foaming, sulphate-free gel with a fresh peppermint and eucalyptus scent. The cream is rich and creamy and absorbs without a greasy finish.

What the ingredients do

Wash: glycolic acid and lactic acid (AHAs) exfoliate and hydrate, salicylic acid (a BHA) helps clear surface build-up, and glycerin and propanediol are humectants.

Cream: retinol visibly smooths crepey-looking skin and fine lines, ferulic acid is an antioxidant, licorice root extract helps tone and calm, shea butter softens and vitamin E nourishes.

How to use

Wash: apply a small amount to wet skin, lather, massage gently and rinse clean; use every other day to start. Cream: Apply a sufficient amount onto cleansed skin and massage in gently with upward circular motions until fully absorbed. Use morning or night, 1-2 times daily. If you are new to retinol, patch test on a small area first and build up gradually. If irritation occurs, reduce how often you use it; if it persists, stop.

Before use

The retinol cream contains retinol: avoid during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises otherwise, and use sun protection on exposed skin. The body wash contains alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic and lactic acid) and salicylic acid, which can increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and the risk of sunburn: use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen, wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure while using it. It also contains peppermint and eucalyptus oils. The cream contains fragrance and fragrance allergens (linalool, limonene, alpha-isomethyl ionone). For external use only. Avoid the eyes (rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs) and stop use if irritation develops. Keep out of reach of children.
